The Challenge:
Consumers were increasingly seeking eco-friendly product and packaging solutions, and Ecossentials needed a brand identity and packaging system that clearly communicated sustainability while maintaining premium appeal. The challenge was to create a compelling design system that aligned with consumer values, differentiated the brand in a crowded market, and was cost-effective to produce at scale.

Brand Identity Development: Designed a cohesive visual system rooted in sustainability. Earth tones, natural textures, and clean typography maintained a modern, premium feel.

Next-Level Packaging Innovation: Using water-based inks, digital printing, and Kemi material, we crafted a 100% curbside recyclable, biodegradable, and FSC certified retail box. We took it a step further and included a diecut that allowed the consumer to create a small planter box from the retail box. We included paper embedded with lavender seeds and detailed instructions for folding the box, starting the seeds, planting them in the planter, and transplanting them outside when it was time.

Storytelling Integration: Crafted messaging and visual storytelling that highlighted environmental benefits and brand mission across packaging, digital, and retail displays. The combination of a water-based, lavender sleep spray and the lavender seed starter deeply embedded the message of our connection with the earth. The primary product was a memory foam pillow made with our Biossentials® USDA certified plant-based memory foam and was offered with a variety of sustainable fabrics, like Tencel®, Sequal® and Repreve®.
